Happiness should not leave traces on our face, yet the aging process is inevitable. Over time, frown lines and crow’s feet progress into more noticeable characteristics. Don’t let the feelings of self-consciousness grow—experience rejuvenation with Botox® and dermal fillers!
Botox® is the trade name for botulinum toxin. Botox® is injected into the facial muscles and works by blocking the transmitters between the nerves that stimulate the muscle. The muscle then cannot contract and the skin will start to smooth out. In addition to cosmetic uses, Botox® also has therapeutic uses. Botox® can also be used in conjunction with TMJ treatment, can treat high lip lines, and can help denture patients adjust to wearing their dentures. The number of Botox® units needed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles varies from patient to patient, thus an appropriate treatment plan will be created for you by Dr. Cabrera at your consultation. Med spas typically dilute the Botox® product at either a 1:2 or 1:3 powder to saline ratio, which reduces its potency. This allows them to use less product and charge a “per unit” price. Unlike med spas, Dr. Cabrera delivers authentic Botox® at a 1:1: ratio to ensure higher potency and improved results.
Dermal fillers, such as Juvéderm, are used to volumize creases and folds in the face and lips that have lost collagen throughout the years. But, dermal fillers are not just used to smooth out wrinkles! Dermal fillers can be used to treat high lip lines, improve facial symmetry, restore volume to sunken cheeks, and can create a youthful frame around teeth following cosmetic dental restorations.
Dr. Cabrera is certified in cosmetic and therapeutic Botox® and dermal fillers. Unlike estheticians, dentists are clinically proficient and knowledgeable with the oral and maxillofacial areas of the mouth. Dentists are trained to deliver local anesthetic, providing improved comfort during cosmetic procedures.
